Director of Music - Wolfgang Weiss

Wolfgang Weiss was born in Frankfurt am Main in 1963, and studied church music (“A- examination”) and vocal pedagogy at the University of Music and Performing Arts (HfMDK) in Frankfurt am Main. This was followed by master classes and private voice tuition with Elisabeth Schwarzkopf and Jakob Stämpfli, along with vocal training from Cornelius L. Reid in New York. Wolfgang has worked as a professional church musician at Wetzlar Cathedral and as conductor of the children’s choir "Chorknaben und Mädchenchor St. Josef" in Frankfurt am Main. While Director of Music at the Anglican/Episcopal Church of Christ the King 2006-2009 he was responsible for a wide range of church music. From 1997 to 2007 he was a lecturer in German liturgical songs, hymnology and voice at the University of Music and Performing Arts (HfMDK) in Frankfurt am Main. Wolfgang Weiss currently works as an independent singing teacher, oratorio singer (baritone) and choir conductor. This is Wolfgang’s second tenure at CTK, having been Director of Music from 2006 to 2009. He also has a personal website at www.weiss-gesang.de
