A Letter From Father Steve

Dear Friends and Faithful of CtK and beyond,
Welcome to the website of the Anglican/Episcopal Church of Christ the King. We are glad you stopped by and hope that you will browse through the many different aspects of our church and church life.
We are part of an ancient church that attempts to live and share the love of Jesus as demonstrated by his own life many years ago. Though we are ancient and conservative in our liturgy, our way of living is progressive and much more in tune with what is going on in the world around us. This interesting blend of conservative and progressive is one of the things that makes us unique. It is also the reason why many people feel comfortable worshiping with us.
We pride ourselves on being a church where ALL ARE WELCOME. And that means YOU. Regardless of your upbringing, your church or faith background, your gender, or sexual orientation, your country of origin, your quirks and quibbles, YOU ARE WELCOME.

About Fr. Steve
The Rev. Stephen McPeek came to Christ the King (CtK) in October 2020. He was ordained to the transitional diaconate in June 2019 by the Right Reverend Robert Fitzpatrick, Bishop of the Diocese of Hawai’i, at St. Andrew’s Cathedral in Honolulu, Hawai’i. In July 2020, he was ordained to the priesthood by the Right Reverend Mark Edington, Bishop in Charge of the Convocation of Episcopal Churches in Europe, at St. Augustine of Canterbury in Wiesbaden, Germany where he worked as a curate. In addition to his work with the congregation, he chaired the startup of the Convocation’s Racism, Reconciliation and Beloved Community Task Force.
Steve earned a Bachelor of Arts with Distinction in German Language and Literature from the University of Hawai’i in 1982. In May 2019 he graduated from the Seminary of the Southwest in Austin, Texas with a Master of Divinity. Before attending seminary, Steve worked for local government, was a business owner, and worked as an operations manager at the University of Hawai’i.
He was married to Rev. Vincent McTighe, a priest with the American National Catholic Church, who passed away on June 18, 2022. Steve is raising Alexis, who is 11 and has five adult children (two of them deceased) and nine grandchildren from Steve’s marriage to Lorna, who died in 2006. Steve and Lorna served for 20 years with University of the Nations/Youth With A Mission. Fifteen of those years were served with “Jugend mit einer Mission Deutschland (JMEM)” until 1997. Following his return to Hawaii, Steve was active in several congregations. In 2011, he became a member of St. James Episcopal Church in Kamuela, Hawai’i and served as the music minister at St. Columba’s Episcopal Church in Pa’auilo, Hawai’i. It was during this time that he started his discernment process to the priesthood.
